Mist on the Lake

An acoustic story ballad – it sounds a bit like it should be from a musical…?
This is another one that starte with a literal statement – the rain stopped and the mist lifted as we sat and ate on the edge of Lake Baikal in Siberia.

Two a part – still can come together
Taking heart – though still wondering whether
They should give another try
Or kiss the past goodbye
Weigh the pros and cons
Just believe – easy to say but oh so
Easy to deceive – and lose your way
In some complicated dance
Symbiotic trance
Churns the world along

Mist rises from the lake
Softens up the outline of the harbour ‘cross the bay
Now the rain is easing there’s a beauty to the day
Gold beneath the grey
Says all there is to say
As mist rises from the lake

Gentle touch – may be all it takes
Not too soft but not too much – before the magic breaks
A little sensitivity
May be no guarantee
but easy to believe
Let’s agree- maybe a time
For some positivity – partners in crime
Hardly in our infancy
Fearless and free
Hopeful to succeed
