Tell Her How You Feel

Funky rock
I thought this would be a standard poppy number, but then we started to play with Steve’s Band in a Box… I tend to take bits and pieces and mix them in and out, rather than lifting a whole track. I love the way this one starts with the funky bass, then a couple of different lead guitars come in.

HBD 14 How You Feel
E Bm
You know your time is calling but your grip on things is week
D
Your brain is fried, your tongue is tied
Am
Each time you try to speak
E
Too afraid to conquer
Bm
Too afraid to kneel
G A G D
Too afraid to tell her how you feel

A
In your mind the words are forming,
G D
Passion’s running deep
A
You’ve mastered your barnstorming
G A
In your dreams whilst you’re asleep
Bm F#m
If you feel shy as she walks by
Em Bm
Your chance will slip away
G
Set your nerves to steel and do for real
A A7
What you’ve practised every day

If you could read her mind Perhaps your fears would be allayed
Maybe you would find That she feels the same way
It may be fate, she might not wait
For you to make your mark
Perhaps it seems you’re not so keen
To tangle with her heart

The timing’s never perfect Life is not that neat
Even if as you suspect Your mouth has two left feet
She may be hot, she may be not
There’s just one way to know
Give it a shout and open out
Let your intentions show
