Appearances Can Be Deceptive

Celtic folky acoustic
This started from the opening couplet and became more vitriolic the further it went. Aim it at the politician you have most! It then developed a Celtic feel as I worked on the tune, gaining bagpipes (sort of) and going into a more rhythmic bodhran –driven break.

HBD 19 Appearances can be Deceptive

(A-A-C-E bass run on Am – da da da dah…)
Am
Your planning is meticulous
G
Shame about your delivery
Am
You’re bound to look ridiculous
G E7
Take it from me
F C
You’ve many sterling qualities
G
To help you get your share
F
But stripped down to your birthday suit
Em
See how you fare

F C
Appearances can be deceptive
G Am
You’ve got to learn to see through the haze
F C
You need to be open and receptive
G E7
To find your way through the maze

Arrogant assertiveness leads to troubles that grow
How you’ll get yourself out of this mess I don’t know
Empathy and compromise Are a much safer load
You ain’t got time to fantasize Get out there on that road

To clean up your messy life’ll Take more than a bar of soap
You hang on to your certainty Like a dead man on a rope
You scatter all in front of you And treat them with disdain
Best be sure as you go down Their time will come again
