Vinyl Anniversary
A true story...aaahh! Sheila and I celebrated our vinyl anniversary (33⅓ years) a month early in Septemberr 2005 with a trip to see Ray Davies at the Royal Albert Hall in London. This was written in appropriate celebration.

When I first met you back in '66
You were going out with my best friend
You were the sweetest of the swinging chicks
I never thought it would start much less of how it would end
We met again in 1968
I said come to a party but you went next door
I got drunk and slipped over the gate
Your best friend pushed us together on the dance room floor
Now it our anniversary
We made it legal back in 72
I remember it well it was the month of June
You’d been a Kinks fan, I liked the Who
But now we were both singing to a folkier tune
Still we went to a concert the night before
With the Kinks on the bill, sweet nostalgia for you
The morning after as we got to the door
You said ‘If I can’t have Ray, guess I have to take you’
Now it our anniversary ….
Our Vinyl Anniversary
So fast forward 33 and a third
We’re sitting in the Albert hall October 05*
If you’d asked us back then we would have called it absurd
To be watching Ray Davies still doing that jive
So it’s a message of hope now a message of fun
No need to feel its over ‘cos you got that ring
The rest of your life now has just begun
We’re still rocking to that vinyl anniversary thing
