Above the Treeline

This was going to be an instrumental but I had some lyrics looking for a home that seemed to fit OK… The pleasures of altitude again, though to be honest I prefer it just below the tree line looking up to the snow – it gets a bit dusty and bleak between the trees and the permanent snow. From the mention of Deodars this was probably written whilst at Holm farm in Ranniket, in the foothills of the Himalaya.

RAK 11 Up Above the Tree Line

G/E G2 (D2)
C 2-6 G Em6b5 C2-6 run down

Ems sus 2 sus 7 A G
Em thing G susmaj7 Bbmaj7 Em topthing

Heading up above the tree line, turn my face towards the snow
Heading up above the tree line, leave the deodars below
Head for a place where the time’s running slow..

Heading up above the tree line, need to breathe that crystal air
Heading up above the tree line, shade my eyes against the glare
Head for a place where no-one knows I’m there

Tired of behaviours saccharine and trite
Long for perception thoughtful incisive and bright

To the wind let my fancies take flight

Heading up above the tree line, nothing moving in the cold
Heading up above the tree line, staying young whilst growing old
Waiting for thoughts to unpack and unfold…
