Cedar Breaks

Before my son Oliver & Truly visited the Southwestern States we had a long chat about the best routes and Nation Parks to visit. Cedar Breaks is a small(er) National Monument to the north of Bryce Canyon with similar orange hoodoos but at higher altitude and one of our favourite places. I wrote this playful homage to the place almost as soon as they left!

RAK 13 Cedar Breaks (Steve Franks harmonies)

C D
Up amongst the bristle cones, blue sky over orange stones
G G7 C G7
When I’m not there my poor heart surely aches
C D
Nestling there amongst the flowers, gazing from the ridge for hours
G G7 C
Take me back to that heaven on Earth that is cedar breaks

F C F C
Some folks like the city, with its buildings straight and tall
D D7 G Abm G G+
But when I’m there mores the pity, I don’t want to be there at all

C D
Take me where the world’s still green, peaceful and so serene
G G7 C
Won’t you take me back to cedar breaks

Driving up that winding road
Watch the sun a-spilling gold
Roll on through the pastures glowing green
See the hoodoos standing tall
All along the canyon wall
It’s just the finest place I’ve ever been

Some folks like ther city
With its manicured garden lawns
But they’re just not as pretty
G F Am7 G7
As that place that mother nature adorns
