UFS 02 What's a Man to Do?
Unlucky for Some home |
What's a Man to Do? An 'old time' cautionary tale of a country boy coming up to the big city - with all that temptation, what's a man to do? A jazz/ country/ blues number featuring Roger Brawn on lead acoustic guitar. UFS 02 What's a Man to Do? E E7 Country boy comes up to the town A Am Can’t stop his eyes from swiveling around C#m G#m A Am7 E B7 With all that temptation, what’s a man to do E E7 He know he should keep holding it in A Am7 But just one way to be good, so many ways to sin C#m G#m A Am7 E With all that temptation, what’s a man to do
You know it’s hard to walk that narrow line With all those women looking mighty fine He sees all those guys who seem to have it all But if he closes his eyes he’ll be heading for a fall
C#m E He’d been so sure, feeling solid as oak B7 E Now he feels it’s all whittling away C#m E All his hopes seem like one big joke F# m A A# B B7 So why not let this poor dog have his day?
So he’ll have just one drink, well maybe two Now why d’ya think that girl over there is looking at you Before you know it, he’s drunk and he’s poor Off she goes as he lies there and snores
Now he hates it here but he can’t go back So hopeless and worthless, fallen and wrecked All those stories he’d told of the life he’d cracked How to face his friends, without losing respect?
So he slips and he slides and he settles in He’s got no choice so he might as well grin He know’s he should stand up, take it on the chin But just one way to be good, so many ways to sin…
