UFS 13 Just Like Being Famous
Unlucky for Some home |
Just Like Being Famous The lyric is based on my experiences travelling off the beaten track in India and the Far East - but the tune I had in my head was a bit basic so I got Steve Franks to work on it... to excellent result with his vocal to the fore. The photo was taken in Gujarat, where people kept stopping to have their photos taken with us on their mobiles but I actually wrote the song in Myanmar. A family sat and stared at Sheila and I for an hour in Sitwe airport - and a small child really did scream and run away in the back streets of Mandalay! UFS 13 It’s Just Like Being Famous (Stirrup/Franks) E People look at me wherever I go A Why they’re so interested I don’t know B D… G E G E This ain’t some freak show - it’s just like being famous E I don’t mind the occasional stare, but A Three feet away and they’re just standing there B D G E G E Is it my complexion or hair - it’s just like being famous
D Cmaj7 Chorus: But then again they look funny to me D Cmaj7 Guess its just a case of reciprocity G F Am D So maybe I’ll just smile and say hello G F C B B7 Might as well just face it - they ain’t gonna go
They look at me like I’m some kind of freak They just look startled if I start to speak It makes my knees go weak - it’s just like being famous
Instrumental verse
At least it’s better than the other day Some little kids just screamed and ran away They must think I’m some kind of bogeyman Poor little things, they just don’t understand
Would it be better if I wore a suit? Somehow I doubt it though I’d sure look cute Just like some tropical fruit - it’s just like being famous
Repeat last line twice
Just like some crazy galoot - it’s just like being famous You’d think I’m in my birthday suit - it’s just like being famous
- it’s just like being famous - it’s just like being famous - it’s just like being famous… to fade
