Track 12: The Mighty Oak - folky with
mandolins... and sort of about my sister Janette who died far too young at
72.

The oak stands _ proud

The tree will shake
the bough will break
F

The mighty oak will fall
The willow_ bends and sways to just a gentle little
breeze
But by this simple action raging storms it can
appease
And if the_ snow lays thick enough to break a hardwood true
It's cap will doff and slough it off
To grow on safely through

Life is complicated and full of
compromise

Extremes are overrated, the knowledge of the

Simplistic solutions are little more than lies….. more than
lies
There's those of _us who're
stubborn
There's those if us will bend
There's those who'll stand unmoving betwixt a foe or
friend
But what is _seen as strength may in the long term lay
them low.
Determined and unyielding till the overwhelming
blow
Pig-headed or just resolute
Flexible or fey
Self controlled or dissolute
Gravitas or gay
All's a call or judgement
Hard to find a way,
find a way
There is no _ predetermined pattern, no one and only
way
No guarantees the wise over the fools will have their
say
You pick your _ way most carefully between the pavement
cracks
Looking to the future hoping someone’s watching for your
back
