Don't Wanna Talk About the Girl

I'm not sure where this one came from really... apart from the fact that I had a silly couplet - 'my eyes were moist 'cos I took it hard, when I was finally hoist by my own ptard' which fortunately got lost in the process (though you can sing it over the intro/break if you like...). I think I wrote the lyric of the chorus being driven from Yangon airport (but I could be wrong) and that gave the title and the storyline for the lyric. Steve Franks helped out with the harmonies.

Verse
C G
Sometimes you make the wrong decision when it comes the time to choose
Dm F G
You can think of all the reasons but there’s really no excuse
F C Am
Now she’s gone it seems so empty now there nothing left to lose
Dm F G
But oh, don’t wanna talk about the girl
Then it seemed so very simple, everything was black and white
And I didn’t catch an inkling that everything was far from right
Why am I the last one to ever see the light
Dm F C
But oh, don’t wanna talk about the girl

Chorus
Am G
I remember her long black hair
Am G
And I remember the way she touched me there
Am G
I remember every second of our brief affair
Dm F C
But oh, don’t wanna talk about the girl

Break (instrumental)
F G Em
F G

It’s better to have loved and lost or so some people say
The joy of loving stays with time the pain will go away
Take comfort in that thought to get you through another day
But oh, don’t wanna talk about the girl
Perhaps that’s just the way it is the way its meant to be
And there was nothing I could do to stop this happening to me
Would it be easier to look upon things fatalistically?
But oh, don’t wanna talk about the girl
