Muscle and Bone

We took our breakfast at a beachside cafe in Penang and every day a couple of bronzed narcissists - wrap around shades, skimpy singlets and oiled muscles - would take their place centre stage at the the most visible table .... I wondered how they met.

Muscle and bone
A C A C A C A C A (slide)
She sits at the table, the light’s in her hair
From behind you might think she’s fair…
D C G A
But before you try to take her home, she’s all muscle and bone
She sips her coffee, bites at her toast
You can tell that she thinks she’s the most..
So why’s she sitting all alone, she’s all muscle and bone
D
She likes to work out, likes to keep fit
A
Looks in the mirror and she thinks she’s it
D
She’s a sunbed sleeper, she thinks she’s got it right
E
But if her tan was any deeper she’d be invisible at night

He’s on the beach now flexing his pecs,
Next to him the rest us just look like wrecks
Just look at all that muscle tone, he’s all muscle and bone
He’s on a surfboard or on a jetski
He looks with pity when he’s looking at me
He’s living in the danger zone, he’s all muscle and bone

His bulging biceps would make Arnie turn green
He’s universally well-endowed you know what I mean
He’s got all the qualities ‘cept wisdom and wit
But if his body is a temple why’s he worshipping it?

They meet at sunset, see the sparks fly
Like steel on flint or fireworks in the sky
He’s looking at her, she’s looking at him
They see their own reflection in the mirror in the gym
