11 Ballroom blues 1970

Another early ballad of unrequited love… these seem to recur every so often, though I can’t think why… A fairly straightforward arrangement on this.

Here she comes see her move like the sun
Here she comes but does she beckon me on – oh no
She goes to another man that she claims
He speaks her name but I can’t hear

Watch them dance closer to her I stroll
Take a chance but I can’t rock’n’roll – oh no
The way that she moves does things to my mind
I’d like her all the time to be near

Funny light makes the fluff on me suit
Shine out bright but it don’t look so cute – oh no
As her in her halo of purity
Wish I could be by her side

Getting late Englebert’s on again
Find a date but it won’t be the same – oh no
Looking through a forest of backcombed hair
I can still see her there and I smile

Love you girl but I don’t know your name
Love you girl but you don’t feel the same – oh no
But that don’t stop the feeling building up inside
But I’ll just have to hide it for a while
