17 Shine 1974

A ‘late early period’ song which I don’t think ever got an airing. I’ve beefed up the riff on the bass strings of the guitar part and added a ‘cheesy’ (as my son Oliver would say) synthesised brass section to give it a bit more oomph… I’d quite like to hear it done with a live brass section.

I can’t tell you what to say you don’t need my guiding light at all
If your fine or if you’re fey what does it matter if we fall
We can surely find a way to make it shine
Yes we can surely find a way to make it shine

Skies are blue or skies are grey you still need the earth on which you stand
Take it slow but take it any way sometimes you’re gonna need a helping hand

See the light above you showering down
Don’t you think you should stop your running around
Tearing the ground until it all comes tumbling down

So try disguise or make it plain you know I’ll be here just the same
Use your eyes but don’t lose your brain I know the rules to all your games

See the light above you showering down
Don’t you think you should stop your running around
Tearing the ground until it all comes tumbling down

I can’t tell you what to say you don’t need my guiding light at all
If your fine or if you’re fey what does it matter if we fall
We can surely find a way to make it shine
Yes we can surely find a way to make it shine
Shine on me… Shine on me…
Shine on me… Shine on me…
Shine on me… Shine on me…
Shine on me… Shine on me…
