08 look at me now 1973 (70s overdubbed analogue recording)

Another early New Cross song when post-grad post-marriage euphoria held full sway. This is another mid-seventies analogue recording care of Roger Brawn, accompanied by hi on lead guitar and bass.

With my nose to my heels and the door to the roadway
That leads imperceptibly down
The hills and the clouds and the stairways were their ways
The turnings that never turn round
The smile on my face it always seemed upside down
Trying not to give it away
And the sound of my laugh had the edge of an empty sound
Strange to remember those days

For now… take a look at me now…
Look at me now… take a look at me now…

I know it’s not real but it seems that the future
is shaping its patterns for me
I know how you feel by the flow of your laughter
Your sense of security
So take you delight in the knowledge you’re searching for
What may or may not be
Though the ways of the world are the same as they every were
What hold do they have on me

For now… take a look at me now…
Look at me now… take a look at me now…

Seems that the ways are to follow easy as sun on the sea
Try not to fear though the reason be near, someone is smiling on me

So take you delight in the knowledge you’re searching for
What may or may not be
Though the ways of the world are the same as they every were
What hold do they have on me

For now… take a look at me now…
Look at me now… take a look at me now…
