10 Green sky blues 1970

Did Sheila have Greek sandals in 1970? Whatever, the sky was a real one, a dark stormy background with brilliant sunshine throwing up light from the green lawn on front of the Grove. This got played a lot at the Red Cow and elsewhere as I could show off my ‘LC’ picking technique…

Storm flustered green sky fills my vision or is it a dream
I’ve never seen such an evening as this all the rainpools are gleaming
The path is a rainbow but my footsteps are dry
As I stand by a window and watch you go by safe beneath your umbrella

Sandals are fine if walking on water is your special line
Look at the time its really so funny to watch as you mime your annoyance
The buses never show when they should
Now the rain turns to hailstones this should really be good I must pay more attention

Give up the fight walk back to the shelter my future looks bright
Stand in the light you glare over here think my chances are slight
unless I’m very careful you look really upset
and a silent refusal is all that I get for my offer of comfort

look in your eyes rather like love in an evil disguise
takes me by surprise my words tumble out as I apologise
for the pain that I’ve caused you and I reach for you mind
all the trouble is over and there’s no more to find as I kiss your forgiveness
