16 Cold Morning Dream 1969

A first ‘term song’ as winter approached, played in the picking style I learnt from Ray Brockman at school. This worked OK for solo guitar and vocal, so I played it a lot from the Denmark in East Ham through to Kings Banana.

The wind is turning blowing from the north again
It’s time for leaving on the road I’ll stray
When the ice comes across the river
I’ll be safe in the warm southern rain

Evenings are closing you live by artificial light
The birds are leaving they know it’s time for flight
And in their wake now I’ll soon be going
Time to follow the sunshine’s might

Like a hypnotist the sun attracts me
Feel the power of light on your face
Leaving there when the night distracts me
Memories that the cold can’t erase
