First Issued May 2004

These were the first new songs for 25 years... Having rediscovered my old songbook and gone through an archiving exercise for 'The Album that Never Was' and 'Back on the Cam' I'd started to play around with a few new ideas but hadn't completed anything. Then I was asked to give a lecture in Beirut. Unfortunately when I went to get a Lebanese visa on the way to the airport, they wouldn't let me have one due to an unreadable Israeli stamp in my passport (from passing through about 1km of Israel on the way home from Jordan one year). I therefore had to rush and get an emergency passport (in which the Lebanese embassy was happy to give me a visa) but missed my flight. Instead of a direct flight and overnight in a hotel, I had to fly to Bahrain and wait overnight at the airport for a connecting flight back to Beirut, to arrive half an hour before I was due to give the keynote speech at a conference. Unsurprisingly I did not find it very easy to get any sleep that night - so took to writing songs instead....
